I just looked at my ten-year birthday journal and realized that was well over a year ago. I wonder if anybody still follows me! I'm really sorry I haven't been active in a few years. It's hard to believe, really, I went from community volunteer to idle account in a manner of months - but that's just how life goes.
I have had 3 separate jobs in the last two years. I worked at my alma mater from 2007-2012, and had a 10-month stint at an internet security company - and now I work for a company that runs a search engine and an ad platform.
In that time I was also part of a professional choir, though I had to leave it also due to life. I moved many miles away from where I used to life in order to take my new job, and couldn't handle the driving for choir rehearsals and performances. It was a similar story with why I dropped off of DeviantART - I tried lurking, but what I really enjoyed about this site was being balls deep in the community, and I just don't have the resources to dedicate to it any longer.
I miss you all greatly, and I miss the old days of living on the chat network and the forums. I miss my time being harranged by
fourteenthstar (though I guess that hasn't really stopped, has it?
) and serving with the Community Volunteer team. Thems was good days, they was. But as life moves on, so too priorities. I have left organizations on unhappy terms (my alma mater, for one), but I did not part from this deviant community with anything but love in my heart.
This journal may be up for a long time - or I may end up finding the resources to reintegrate into the community. It's far different now than it was when I took my leave, but at its core it's still a community dedicated to the appreciation and sanctity of art in all its forms. I congratulate those who have striven to make this place what it is, damn near a household name, with millions of users and millions of pieces of great art (and a few not so great pieces - not everyone is a professional, that's what makes this place so awesome!) .
Keep up the good work. Peace out.
(And hey, that Facebook link does work last I checked - feel free to keep up with me there. Just send me a message first so I know who you are!)
